Memorial Day weekend just may be our favorite weekend of the year here at Pub Crawl NYC. Sometimes it’s appropriate for a quick trip out of town, other times, it’s good to stick around town and go on a NYC bar crawl or three. As the weekend marks the unofficial beginning of summer, the weather almost always delivers. It was on a Memorial Day weekend long ago that we participated in our very first pub crawl. So, whether you’re staying in town or traveling for the long weekend, have a great time, stay safe and happy pub crawling!
A review of Compagnie Des Vins Surnaturels in Manhattan's NoLita
A review of Bar Nana in Manhattan's Meatpacking District
Located at 63 Gansevoort Street in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, Bar Nana is more of a late-night spot and not one to include on any NYC bar crawl. The place is open starting at 6pm Tuesday – Saturday, so that’s probably the best time to check out Bar Nana without having to wait in line or be on a list.
A review of Carroll Place in Manhattan's Greenwich Village
Change has come to Bleecker Street! Located at 157 Greenwich Street (in the old Kenny’s Castaways location), Carroll Place is a gastropub/wine bar/beer bar. Next door, at 155 Greenwich Street, the Back Fence has closed for business as well. We wonder what type of spot will open there. We digress. With numerous wines available by the glass/bottle, Carroll Place is a solid spot for the Greenwich Village NYC wine bar crawl. The fare leans toward Italian and Carroll Place has an open kitchen with a pizza oven. Along with a friendly staff and a decent tap beer selection, we look forward to returning to Carroll Place on a future NYC pub crawl.
A review of Beer Culture in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen
Located at 328 West 45th Street in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen, Beer Culture is another beer store / bar. Though, based on layout, we would call it more of a bar than a store, as the bar area dominates. Beer Culture’s store section offers sizeable coolers in the back of the space, but most if the spot is taken up by the bar area. Twelve taps, hundreds of bottled beers along with a limited selection of hard alcohol. A nice addition to the Hell’s Kitchen NYC craft beer bar crawl!
A review of Bondurants on Manhattan's Upper East Side
Located at 303 east 85th Street, Bondurants is another new addition to the NYC UES craft-beer pub crawl. Like its neighbor Five Mile Stone, Bondurants offers 24 quality draught beers from around the U.S. Bondurants also offers an extensive bourbon and handcrafted cocktail selection. If you’re lucky, you can snag some seats by the windows for some prime people watching along 85th Street. Bondurants has a bit of a rustic vibe to it. We look forward to returning here on our next bar crawl through the area.
Is Paulaner Brauhaus closed for business?
We recently came across news that the Paulaner Brauhaus on the Bowery in Manhattan’s Lower East Side was closing for business. We visited Paulaner Brauhaus fairly recently. The bar’s website says that the spot is “closed due to renovation”. It strikes us odd that they would be renovating less than six months after opening for business. But, we certainly hope they are renovating and not closing permanently. Do you have any further information on this topic? If so, please share in the comment space below.

Today marks the anniversary of Louisiana statehood
Louisiana joined the Union on April 30, 1812. For a Louisiana-focused NYC bar crawl today, we suggest including Ninth Ward at 180 Second Avenue in Manhattan’s East Village and Delta Grill at 700 Ninth Avenue in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen.
