NYC bars we've visited recently

In Manhattan, we had the pleasure of visiting The Bar Room (at 117 East 60th Street), Sel Rrose (1 Delancey Street) and Eastwood (221 East Broadway), among others.  Over in Brooklyn, we hit the Park Slope locations of Terroir and Beauty Bar; in Carroll Gardens, we went to Lavendar Lake.  Reviews of some forthcoming.  In short, we had a good time at all of them and their definitely worth a visit.

Happy Flag Day!

Here are a few spots to hit for a Flag Day NYC bar crawl:

Fraunces Tavern, 54 Pearl Street in Manhattan’s Financial District. George Washington hung out here.

Loopy Doopy, rooftop bar atop Conrad Hotel in Battery Park City.  Great view of Statue of Liberty and the relatively late sunset.

Pete’s Tavern, 18th Street & Irving Place in Manhattan’s Gramercy section.  Among the oldest bars in Manhattan

New NYC bars on our radar

Here are some new spots we’re looking forward to include on a future NYC bar crawl: Watermark Bar (Pier 15 near South Street Seaport in Manhattan), Eastwood (221 East Broadway in Lower East Side) and Upright Brewhouse (547 Hudson Street in the West Village).  This last spot may be more of a cafe, but we gather that it serves a solid craftbeer selection, so we’ll have to visit it and then make the bar vs. cafe determination.  Always a good debate!

Some good news for two South Street Seaport bars

An article we saw in dnainfo.com shows that two of the shuttered Seaport bars will be opening temporarily in pop-up form before re-opening in their original locations later in the summer: http://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20130516/south-street-seaport/storm-shuttered-seaport-bars-opening-wine-beer-pop-up-shop-on-pier-17

And we also learned recently that the Paris Cafe will be re-opening sometime in August!
