We are happy to report that the Paris Cafe, located at 119 South Street in Manhattan and our favorite stop along the Old NYC pub crawl, has re-opened for business after nearly a year of renovations following Hurricane Sandy. We visited the Paris Cafe on a recent afternoon. While the dining area is basically the same, the main bar area was altered such that the bar is now against the southern edge of the space, instead of the western edge.
Some drinking establishment visits that we’ve included on our various recent NYC pub crawls include Midtown Manhattan’s Monarch Rooftop Bar (just off of Herald Square), The Winslow on East 14th Street and Store Front NYC on West 23rd Street. Over in Brooklyn, we had the pleasure of visiting Park Slope’s Duke of Montrose, Kensington’s Bar Chord and Williamsburg’s Grand Ferry, among others. We found all of these spots appealing. As always, we’ll share some detailed thoughts on these spots in forthcoming posts.

Today is September 17. That means we have six month to go until St. Patrick’s Day; a very popular day for some NYC pub crawling!
Now that it’s September and most locals have returned from their summer vacations, this is the season for new restaurant and bar openings. Among recently-opened or about-to-open pubs in Manhattan on our radar include the Financial District’s Clinton Hall (a craft-beer bar/beer hall), Chelsea’s American Whiskey (taking over the space that was The Parlour Midtown on West 30th Street), Lower East Side’s Fool’s Gold (another craft-beer focused bar in the former White Rabbit space) and The Winslow (a cocktail spot on East 14th Street). We hope to visit all of these (and other) spots in the coming days and weeks. As always, we’ll share with you our thoughts on these spots in forthcoming posts.
Because it marks the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day always brings a tinge of sadness to us at Pub Crawl NYC. Summer in NYC offers numerous opportunities of beautiful weather for NYC pub crawls. September is still a good weather month in NYC and, if lucky, October is can be as well. But, those two months just aren’t quite the same as June, July and August. Either way, we look forward to many more NYC bar crawls in the months ahead. Happy Autumn!

We’ve spent a good portion of this summer exploring spots in Brooklyn and Queens and it’s been a great time. So now, we figure we need to show Manhattan a little love. Manhattan bars currently on our radar include Financial District’s Clinton Hall, Flatiron’s Flatiron Hall and East Village’s Maiden Lane. We gather that the first two are beer halls. Flatiron Hall is from the same folks behind Houston Hall. Maiden Lane takes over the spot where Life Cafe, a great East Village brunch spot, used to be. We are looking forward to visiting all three.
