Happy First Saturday of March 2019!

Our favorite non-holiday random Saturday of the year! The arrival of the First Saturday of March is very meaningful to us at Pub Crawl NYC. Though the calendar still says winter, March marks the end of the super-cold, long, dark winter months of December, January and February.  Spring (and good pub crawling weather) is just ahead.

And, if you’re looking for a pub crawl for today, the annual Hoboken, NJ St. Patrick’s bar crawl takes place today.  More info here.

Brooklyn bars we look forward to visiting in early 2019

In Brooklyn, we look forward to visiting numerous recently-opened spots.  Among others, Franks Wine Bar, Lizzie King’s Parlor and The Rockwell Place.  Franks Wine Bar, located at 465 Court Street in Carroll Gardens, is from the Frankies Spuntino owners.  A mile east in Park Slope, located at 75 Fifth Avenue, is Lizzie King’s Parlor which focuses on locally produced wines and beers.  Finally, about a mile to the north and west at the western edge of Fort Greene is The Rockwell Place, located at 31 Rockwell Place.  We gather that The Rockwell Place is a cocktail bar.  As usual, we will have brief thoughts in this space after we’ve had a chance to visit these and other spots.

Manhattan bars we look forward to visiting in early 2019

Now that the calendar has turned to 2019, we happily anticipate visiting some recently opened spots around Manhattan.  Three in particular that caught our attention are Bar Veloce, Giardino 54 and Merrion Row Irish Pub.  The wine bar chain Bar Veloce just opened its sixth Manhattan location on the Upper West Side at 466 Amsterdam Avenue.  About 30 blocks south in Hells Kitchen, Giardino 54 has opened in the old ‘disiac space (400 /1/2 West 54th Street).  We gather that Giardino 54 is part Italian restaurant / part wine bar.  Finally, just east of Times Square at 119 West 45th Street comes Merrion Row Irish Pub.  We believe that Merrion Row may differentiate itself from, what we like to call, the “dime-a-dozen” Irish pubs in Times Square.  We’ll learn more on our visit.  As usual, we will have brief thoughts in this space after we’ve had a chance to visit these and other spots.
