Located at 165 West 26th St in Manhattan’s Chelsea, Sid Gold’s Request Room takes over from the former Tillman’s spot. Part cocktail bar part piano bar, Sid’s main bar takes up the front area of the space; the back lounge is where the grand piano action takes place. Sid’s cocktail piano starts nightly at 7pm and karaoke starts at 9pm. If you’re looking for some great cocktails and opportunity for some sing-alongs, Sid Gold’s Request Room is your spot!

A review of John Doe Craft Bar & Kitchen in Manhattan's NoMad
Located at 253 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood, John Doe is a beer bar / gastropub (in the former Lulu & Me space). John Doe offers nearly 20 tap beers and another 20 or so bottled canned beers. The layout is fairly spacious with a small amount of outdoor seating available in good weather. John Doe is open for lunch/dinner everyday of the week. We noted that their bottomless weekend brunch offering includes their two house beers (a rarity to offer beers during bottomless brunch). Food menu includes bar snacks and bistro fare. John Doe is a great spot for your next NYC pub crawl through NoMad.
A review of Holland House in Manhattan's Midtown South
Located at 30th Street and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan’s Midtown South, Holland House is a recently-opened beer bar just south of the Empire State Building. Holland House is spacious and offers nearly 40 quality tap beers plus several dozen bottled beers. This spot doubles as a sports bar. Holland House offers lots of window seating available for people watching along 30th or fifth. Food offerings consist mostly of upscale bar and bistro fare. Holland House is a great spot for after-work drinks. We look forward to returning here on our next pub crawl through the nabe.
A review of Banter in Forest Hills, Queens
Located at 108-22 Queens Blvd in Forest Hills, Queens, Banter is a solid Irish bar and Grill. Twenty tap beers and nearly 75 mostly Irish whiskeys are available. Banter offers a great opportunity for people watching at the corner of Queen Blvd and 71st Road. Banter’s layout is half bar / half dining area. For food, Banter offers great pub fare, plus burgers and salads. Banter offers breakfast (8am opening!) and brunch on weekends. Banter is great spot for any Forest Hills bar crawl!
A review of Dynaco in Brooklyn
Located at 1112 Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn, Dynaco is a craft beer bar offering 12 quality tap beers. Dynaco’s bar area takes up most of the space. There are two booths right by the entrance. A great spot for a cold winter’s day (though we visited on the opposite of that). Dynaco is a great spot for your next craft beer bar crawl through this part of Brooklyn. Dynaco is cash only.

A review of BLVD Wine Bar in Long Island City, Queens
Located at 47-20 Center Blvd in Queens’ Long Island City (in the ‘new’ section of LIC, aka the waterfront), BLVD Wine Bar is a great spot for locals and visitors alike. Blvd has around 50 wines by glass/bottle (a few bottled beers too). The space has three sections: the main bar area, a small lounge area in back and an even smaller outdoor area that shares a patio with the restaurant next door. The outdoor area looks at the back of the famous Pepsi-Cola sign. All around, BLVD Wine Bar a must-visit spot next time you’re in LIC.
Our thoughts at the beginning of Memorial Day weekend
Memorial Day weekend just may be our favorite weekend of the year here at Pub Crawl NYC. Sometimes it’s appropriate for a quick trip out of town; other times, it’s great to stick around town and go on a NYC pub crawl or three. As the weekend marks the unofficial beginning of summer, the weather almost always delivers. It was on this weekend long ago that we participated in our very first bar crawl and we’ve been a big fan of bar crawls ever since! So, whether you’re staying in town or traveling for the long weekend, have a great time, stay safe and happy pub crawling!
