Happy Half-way to St. Patrick’s Day!
Here’s hoping that, six months from now, life is much closer to a return to normal than what we have presently.
Happy 232nd Birthday to New York State!
It was 232 years ago on July 26 that New York State ratified the United States Constitution, becoming the 11th state to do so. Therefore, July 26th is a great day to drink some New York State beer and eat some New York State food. If coronavirus were not around, we would suggest a visit to Manhattan’s Local & Vine, located at 282 Hudson Street in West Soho.
Happy Opening Day 2020!
Were it not for COVID-19, our NYC Bar of the Day: Standings Bar, located at 43 East 7th Street in Manhattan’s East Village.
In honor of today’s 51st anniversary of the Moon landing

Happy Bastille Day 2020
Were it not for COVID-19, our NYC French Wine Bar of the Day:
Jadis, located at 42 Rivington Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
We miss Manhattanhenge
July 12 is the day for the second go-around of the semi-annual Manhattanhenge event (the other date is May 30). Due to COVID-19, we won’t be able to witness the phenomenon this year. We’re re-running our 2019 Manhattanhenge photos below; this is the view from Union Square looking west along 14th Street.
Happy Independence Day 2020
Happy 244th Birthday to the good ol’ USA. Our NYC Bar of the Day: Fraunces Tavern, located at 54 Pearl Street in Manhattan’s Financial District. We look forward to returning there once all this COVID madness is behind us.
Happy Canada Day 2020
O Canada! If bars were open for business these days, our pick today would be Ontario Bar, located at 559 Grand Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
To-go Booze sales to become permanent in NYC?
A recent article in Gothamist caught our attention. We believe, if handled properly, To-Go Booze sales becoming permanent will be a positive for the bar business. We’ll see what transpires in Albany.
