Slightly off the beaten path at 229 Kent Ave (near Grand Street) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Grand Ferry, another cocktail/craftbeer bar from the same owners as Williamsburg’s The Richardson, is well worth a visit.

The first spot is The Winslow, located at 243 E. 14th Street.
The second spot is Grace, located at 365 Third Avenue (near 27th Street).
Some new NYC bars we want to visit
Numerous bars have opened recently, or are about to open all around NYC. Some of the spots we hope to include in an upcoming NYC pub crawl: On the Midtown East/Upper East Side border is The Jeffrey (311 E. 60th Street), another beer bar from the owner’s of Long Island City’s Alewife. Further south in Manhattan’s Gramercy nabe is a new wine bar called Vitis La Vineria (284 Third Avenue). Even further south on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, though not yet open (but we expect to be opening soon) Paulaner Brauhaus at 265 Bowery. And over in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we look forward to the opening of Dirk the Norseman at 7 N. 15th Street, supposedly a brewpub/craft-beer bar. As always, we will have reviews of these spots.
New Bar Alert!
After a few weeks of soft open, Church Publick, located at 78 Reade Street (near Church) in Tribeca, is opening this week. It is a great addition to the Tribeca craft-beer NYC bar crawl. Full review forthcoming.

Suggestions for bars for a Halloween NYC bar crawl
With Halloween approaching, it’s time to share a few Halloween-appropriate bars for a pub crawl in NYC. Our recommendations include the following:
Jeckyll & Hyde, 91 7th Avenue South in the West Village
Slaughtered Lamb, 182 West 4th Street, also in the West Village
White Horse Tavern, 567 Hudson Street, also in the West Village
Landmark Tavern, 626 11th Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen
Ear Inn, 326 Spring Street in (West) Soho.
All of these bars are Halloween-themed or have a famous ghost story of sorts attached to them. The last three are also part of our favorite Old NYC pub crawl.

The Paris Cafe has re-opened!
We are happy to report that the Paris Cafe, located at 119 South Street in Manhattan and our favorite stop along the Old NYC pub crawl, has re-opened for business after nearly a year of renovations following Hurricane Sandy. We visited the Paris Cafe on a recent afternoon. While the dining area is basically the same, the main bar area was altered such that the bar is now against the southern edge of the space, instead of the western edge.
A brief review of The Castello Plan on Brooklyn's Cortelyou Road
The Castello Plan, located at 1213 Cortelyou Road in Brooklyn’s Kensington, is a small-ish wine bar opposite the fire house. Seating area includes high top tables with small bar area. Also, a small outdoor area on the eastern side of the establishment.
