Bars we look forward to visiting in Astoria, Queens

There are always numerous NYC bars on our to-visit list.  Two spots in Astoria we hope to visit sooner rather than later are The Wolfhound and The Highwater.  The Wolfhound, located at 38-14 30th Avenue (near Steinway Street), bill itself as a modern neighborhood Irish bar featuring a rotating draught beers as well as fine whiskeys and scotches.  Located just a few blocks to the south and west is The Highwater, located at 34-20 Broadway.  We gather that The Highwater is a tropical bar and grill spot.  We hope it’s a great addition to any Astoria Broadway NYC pub crawl.  After we’ve had a chance to visit these two spots, we will post brief reviews of both right here.

Bars we look forward to visiting in Brooklyn

There are always numerous NYC bars on our radar to visit.  Two spots in Brooklyn we hope to visit sooner rather than later are Dumbo’s Randolph Beer and the rooftop bar at the 1 Hotel.  Randolph Beer, located at 82 Prospect St, is the establishment’s third location (in addition to those in Manhattan’s NoLita and Brooklyn’s Williamsburg).  The Dumbo location will serve both regional U.S. craft beers as well as Randolph’s own house beers brewed on site.  Located less than a half-mile to the northwest at 60 Furman, the 1 Hotel’s rooftop bar opened earlier in 2017.  The views of Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge are supposed to be spectacular.  Once we’ve had a chance to visit these two spots, we will post brief reviews of both in this space.

A review of West Wine Bar in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint

Located at 67 West St in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint Waterfront area, West Wine Bar is located in an old brick factory building. We don’t often use the word “charming” to describe the many establishments we visit, but West Wine Bar is just that — charming. Offering nearly 30 wines by glass/bottle and 17 bottled/canned beers/ciders, West Wine Bar is a must-visit for your next Greenpoint bar crawl. The space is not too big or too small with what looks like original floorboards. In addition to the sizable L-shaped bar, there are several two-person tables and one communal table for seating.
