Located at 1633 2nd ave, MexiBBQ offers its second location in NYC (the original is in Astoria, Queens). MexiBBQ offers 48 tap beers, nearly 25% of selection is locals from metro nyc, (prominently features Singlecut). Food menu is mix of BBQ and Mexican, as the name of place implies. Space is mostly tables for eating, which makes us not want to count as a bar, but so many good beers says otherwise! This is a good spot for the Upper East Side NYC beer bar crawl . Four TV screens tuned to sports in the main bar area. MexiBBQ is open ‘til 1am on weeknights and 2am on weekends. Next time you want to pub crawl through the UES, be sure to include MexiBBQ on your itinerary!

A review of One Star Bar in Manhattan's Chelsea
Located at 147 West 24th Street, One Star bar is a no-frills bar offered by the same owners of the former No Idea bar, which was located not too far away in Gramercy. One Star bar offers tap and canned beers only. The bar also plays the name game: every night, people with a specific name get drink specials all night. Overall, One Star bar seems like a chill spot. Not too many spots like this one open up in Manhattan these days. We aim to include One Star on our next bar crawl in New York City’s Chelsea.
A review of Paulaner Brauhaus NYC on Manhattan's Lower East Side
Germany’s Paulaner brewery opens its first brewpub in the United States. Located at 265 Bowery (just south of Houston Street), Paulaner Brauhaus is half restaurant/half bar. Four house beers plus wine and cocktails are offered. Food is a mix of German-American fare and bistro offerings. The spot is definitely worth a visit (and it’s a new addition to the brewpub NYC pub crawl) and we look forward to returning on our next bar crawl through this area of New York City. We just hope the posted hours of operation (5pm – 11pm) get extended significantly at some point.
A review of Maggie Reilly's Pub in Manhattan's Chelsea
Our first review of 2014 goes to Maggie Reilly’s located in northern Chelsea at 340 9th Avenue (near 30th Street), located in the former Blarney Stone location. Alas, with this particular Blarney Stone passing on, the Manhattan True-Dive NYC bar crawl continues to shrink. Anyway, Maggie’s is a decent place for affordable drinks and decent pub grub. The layout is practically identical to Blarney Stone’s layout, except the pool table in the back has been replaced by a dining area. Maggie’s offers ten draft beers with some good local representation. A solid spot for any West Side pub crawl in NYC, Maggie’s is also a good place to stop in at and get out of the cold January weather!
Another great cheese & charcuterie plate!
Several weeks ago, we shared a photo of a cheeseplate from Brooklyn’s Olympia Wine Bar. The photo below is from the recently-opened Vitis La Vineria, located at 284 Third Avenue in Manhattan’s Gramery nabe. Vitis is a great addition to any East Side NYC wine bar crawl.
A review of Midtown Manhattan's Trouble's Trust
A review of Iron Bar in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen
Located at 713 8th Avenue (at 45th Street), Iron Bar is the latest addition to the Hell’s Kitchen craft-beer NYC bar crawl. Offering 45 tap beers and a fairly standard bar food menu plus pizza, Iron Bar is rather spacious. The bar area has hightop and regular seating. Beyond a flight of stairs that seemingly leads nowhere, a back lounge-y area where a projection screen TV awaits.
A brief review of Brooklyn's Lucey's Lounge
Located at 479 Third Avenue in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn, Lucey’s Lounge is a chill cocktail bar. Lucey’s offers 20 house cocktails, 15 bottled beers and 10 wines by the glass. The spot has an antique/vintage feel to the space, along with a small outdoor area in back. Although it’s slightly off-the-beaten-path, Lucey’s is worth a visit (or two).
A visit to Three Stars Brewing in Washington, DC
A new local brewery in the northern tip of the District of Columbia (at 6400 Chillum Pl NW), Three Stars is one of several new microbreweries in the District. Our visit was within 30 minutes of closing time, just enough to taste their four free samples! Well worth a visit if you find yourself in Washington, DC. We look forward to our next visit.
A review of Suite 36 in Manhattan's Midtown South
Located at 16 West 36th Street, Suite 36 is another upscale sports bar for Midtown South. Attracting the after-work crowd, Suite 36 feels a bit like the Ainsworth chain. Food menu looked intriguing, with a unique take on gastropub and bar fare. A decent tap beer list of a dozen or so offerings is available. We look forward to a return visit.
