Located at 2911 Broadway, Bernheim & Schwartz is a spacious restaurant and beer hall across the street from Columbia University. Eleven house beers brewed by Greenpoint Beerworks as well as wine and a full bar available. Design of the space is so effective, you’d think the spot has been here for a long time. Food menu is mostly bistro fare. Bernheim & Schwartz is a must-visit for any beer geek!

A review of Brownstone Bar & Grill in Downtown Brooklyn
Located at 277 Gold St (at Tillary) in the northern edge of Downtown Brooklyn, Brownstone Bar & Grill fills a certain void of bars in the immediate area. The bar half of the space greets patron upon entrance. Several high top tables and a square bar with seating on three sides takes up most of the bar area. The restaurant half is just beyond a short corridor beyond the bar area. For beers, Brownstone offers nearly 20, mostly quality tap beers, including a few from nearby Brooklyn breweries. In addition, 25 or so bottled beers. Food offerings are somewhat limited and include bar apps, sandwiches and entrees. Five HDTV screens are tuned to sporting events.
A review of La Cheile in Manhattan's Washington Heights
Located just north of GW bridge at 839 W. 181st St, La Cheile (pronounced Le Kayla, loosely meaning “together” in Gaelic), is an Irish Pub in Manhattan’s Washington Heights. La Cheile offers offers 12 tap beers and a mix of bar/bistro fare. Friendly staff. La Cheile’s layout is a bar half and a restaurant half. Add in the friendly staff and La Cheile is definitely worth a visit when you’re in this part of Upper Manhattan.

Located at 647 E. 11th Street (just west of Avenue C) in Manhattan’s Alphabet City, Sliders is a small sports bar/sort-of beer bar. Sliders offers eight draught beers and about two dozen bottled beers. Three HD TVs hover over the bar. Exposed brick walls. As the name implies, the bar are includes a great selection of sliders. Sliders is a great destination for when you are pub crawling along Avenue C!
A review of Grand Bar & Grill in Brooklyn's Williamsburg
Located at 647 Grand Street in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg, Grand Bar & Grill is a new spot for the Grand Street bar crawl. A sizeable bar area greets patron in front and a restaurant area in back, separated by a short corridor. A 12-tap beer system serves quality beers. The spot feels as though it’s been here for a while. Food menu includes a raw bar. In addition, the rest of the food menu can be described as a mix of bistro with a bit of comfort food mixed in. Cocktails are also featured on the menu and each one costs (only!) $10. Grand Bar offer beer& shot specials. Definitely worth a visit when you’re pub crawling along Grand Street.
A review of Barcade in Manhattan's Chelsea
A review of The Grand National in Brooklyn's Williamsburg
Located at 524 Grand Street in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg, The Grand National is a new sports bar for Williamsburg! Picking up where Kingsland (we hardly knew ye) left off, this spot offers eight large TVs tuned to multiple games. For beer, there are ten taps (a mix of quality and not-so-quality) as well as ten more available by bottle/can. Ten cocktails featured at (only) $10. Food menu consists mainly of standard bar food.
A review of Barcade in Manhattan's East Village
Located at 6 St. Mark’s Place in Manhattan’s East Village, Barcade St. Mark’s is actually the second location of Barcade to open in Manhattan (by a matter of months). The first Manhattan location opened earlier in 2014 and is in Chelsea (and we’ll have a brief review on that later this month). The original Barcade is located in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg. We’ve been big fans of the Williamsburg location for years. Less spacious than the Williamsburg location, the St. Mark’s location of Barcade is has the same feel: A solid craftbeer bar combined with two dozen or so 1980s era video games. Simply a fantastic spot and a great new addition to the East Village NYC craftbeer bar crawl!
A review of Proper West in Midtown Manhattan
Located just a few blocks north of Herald Square, at 54 W. 39th Street, Proper West is another upscale sports bar for Manhattan! If the spot feels familiar, it’s because this place used to be EVR. Gone is the DJ booth and the lounge-like seating in back and on the second level. Seating in those areas are standard tables for two or booth-style seating. The bar area is similar to what it was at EVR (except for the larger TV screens over the bar). And, like EVR before it, Proper West attracts the after-work crowd. A 12-tap system offers mostly quality beers. Other standard beers available by bottle. Proper West is worth a visit if you work/live nearby.
A review of Hollow Nickel in Brooklyn's Boreum Hill
Located at 494 Atlantic Avenue, just 1.5 blocks west of Barclays Center, Hollow Nickel offers eight quality craft beers and nine bottled beers. For layout, the bar area in front half and a seating area at back half. Hollow Nickel also has a spacious outdoor area out back (where smoking is allowed). A large chalk board near entrance inform patrons of drink selection, food and specials. We look forward to returning here.
