Next time you’re pub crawling along Nassau Ave in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint…

Be sure to stop in at Goldie’s and Diamond Lil.  Goldie’s is located at 195 Nassau Ave and Diamond Lil (not to be confused with the beer bar The Diamond on nearby Franklin Street) is just a few doors west at 179 Nassau Avenue.  Both spots are recently-opened neighborhood bars with great cocktails and craftbeer.  Both possess small backyards for outdoor drinking in the warm weather.  We look forward to returning to both establishments on our next NYC pub crawl through Greenpoint.

A review of Brooklyn’s Interboro Spirits & Ales

Located at 942 Grand Street in Brooklyn’s East Williamsburg, Interboro spirits and ales is (likely) Brooklyn’s only Brewery/Distillery. Offering at least a dozen beers brewed onsite, Interboro serves tap beer in four ounce taster sizes as well as the standard 12 or 16 ounce pours. Patrons can see the brewing equipment thru the large floor to ceiling windows in the smallish tasting room. This spot is a tad out of the way, but well worth a visit.

A review of Milk & Hops on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Located at 1159 First Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Milk & Hops opened its third Manhattan location earlier this year (adding to its downtown locations in Greenwich Village and Chelsea).  This uptown location of the hybrid beer-cheese shop/beer bar offers about a dozen rather hard-to-find domestic craft-beers.  Add this spot on your next craft-beer NYC bar crawl through the neighborhood.

A review of The Gantry in LIC, Queens

Located at 47-02 Vernon Blvd in LIC, Queens, Gantry Bar is a neighborhood spot specializing in whiskey and other amber-colored liquids. Even though it’s fairly new to the nabe, the space feels as though it’s been around for decades. Eighteen draft beers round out the liquid offerings here. Food menu is best described as upscale bar or bistro fare.  Stop in here on your next NYC pub crawl through the nabe.

A review of The Gutter LIC in Long Island City, Queens

Located at 10-22 46th Ave in a former taxi garage in LIC, Queens, The Gutter brings its retro 1970s bar and bowling alley north of the Newtown creek with a new location to add to the Williamsburg spot. More spacious than it’s Brooklyn location, the Gutter LIC offers 20 tap beers, a lot of seating and some pinball machines. The bowling alley is up half a flight of stairs in the back of the space and has eight lanes. Add in the Friendly staff and this place is a must-visit for LIC NYC craft beer bar crawl.

A review of Allora Alto in Manhattan’s Midtown East

Located at 156 east 47th street in Manhattan’s Midtown East, Allora Alto is a recently opened rooftop bar atop the Bernic Hotel. One of the smaller rooftop bars that we’ve visited, Allora Alto offers niche views of midtown east (a view looking west along 47th street is provided below), particularly the Chrysler building just to the south. It’s opens for business at noon daily, so if you need a quick break from the office and you’re sick of Starbucks, head over to Allora Alto.

A review of Somm Time in Manhattan’s Midtown East

Located at 959 Second Avenue in Manhattan’s Midtown East, Somm Time is a small-ish wine and cocktail bar located on a strip of Second Avenue with numerous other restaurants and bars.  Somm Time opens for business at 4pm on weekdays and 11am for brunch on weekends.  The non-brunch food menu mainly consists of bar bites and small plates.  Somm Time is definitely worth a visit on your next Second Avenue NYC pub crawl.

A review of The Heights in Manhattan’s Midtown South

Located at 11 East 31st Street atop the Arlo Nomad hotel in Manhattan’s Midtown South, The Heights is another rooftop bar with great 360-degree views around Midtown South and beyond, including the iconic Empire State Building.  It’s one of the few rooftop bars that we are aware of that is open for business on a weekday afternoon.  The premium mixed drinks here are named after sections of the five boroughs that have “Heights” in its name (Morningside Heights, Jackson Heights, Dyker Heights, etc.)  If we had one piece of feedback, it’s that the spot seemed rather understaffed during our visit. Hopefully, that gets rectified in the weeks ahead.  In all, The Heights is a great spot for any Summer NYC rooftop bar crawl.
