Our Lower Manhattan craft-beer NYC pub crawl suggestion is the West Village beer bar crawl.  Here are our four suggested spots, all of which are close to Sheridan Square:

Galway Hooker Downtown, 133 7^th Avenue

Our NYC Bar of the Day: Fraunces Tavern, located at 54 Pearl Street in Manhattan’s Financial District.

Our NYC Wine Bar of the Day: Virgola, located at 28 Greenwich Avenue in Manhattan’s West Village

Our NYC Bar of the Day: Professor Thom’s, located at 219 Second Avenue in Manhattan’s East Village.

Our NYC Bar of the Day: The Watering Hole, located at 106 East 19th Street in Manhattan’s Gramercy neighborhood.

As usual, there are numerous bars opening up all around NYC’s five boroughs.  Some Manhattan spots that we look forward to including on some of our near future NYC bar crawls include Caledonia, Bar Fortuna and Good Story.  Caledonia is a Scottish whiskey-focused spot, located at 424 Amsterdam Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.  This is the sister spot to the Caledonia on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.  Bar Fortuna is another fancy cocktail / wine bar for the Greenwich Village neighborhood, located on the second floor above the restaurant Casa Apicii at 62 West 9^th Street.  Lastly, Good Story is a rooftop spot atop the Arlo Hotel at 231 Hudson Street in west Soho.  After we hit these spots, we will provide brief reviews on them in this space.

Best wishes for the New Year!  Our New Year’s Resolution: More NYC bar crawls in 2017!

We view Rock & Reilly and Sean’s Bar & Kitchen, both located in Midtown, as a tie for the best new bar openings of 2016 for Manhattan.  We visited both on a NYC pub crawl in late May 2016 and enjoyed our visits to both spots immensely.  Both spots possess a friendly and helpful staff along with a quality craft-beer selection. We look forward to returning to both spots on future NYC bar crawls in 2017 and beyond!

We view Do or Dive, located at 1108 Bedford Avenue, as the best new bar opening of 2016 for Brooklyn.  Do or Dive, from the same owners as Skinny Dennis and Lucky Dog (among others) in Williamsburg, has a solid retro vibe, along with a good beer selection.  Add in the friendly staff and Do or Dive is our favorite new Brooklyn bar of 2016.  Check back later this week for our best new 2016 bar opening for Manhattan!
