It was 232 years ago on July 26 that New York State ratified the United States Constitution, becoming the 11th state to do so. Therefore, July 26th is a great day to drink some New York State beer and eat some New York State food. If coronavirus were not around, we would suggest a visit to Manhattan’s Local & Vine, located at 282 Hudson Street in West Soho.

We miss Manhattanhenge
July 12 is the day for the second go-around of the semi-annual Manhattanhenge event (the other date is May 30). Due to COVID-19, we won’t be able to witness the phenomenon this year. We’re re-running our 2019 Manhattanhenge photos below; this is the view from Union Square looking west along 14th Street.
Happy Independence Day 2020
Happy 244th Birthday to the good ol’ USA. Our NYC Bar of the Day: Fraunces Tavern, located at 54 Pearl Street in Manhattan’s Financial District. We look forward to returning there once all this COVID madness is behind us.

To-go Booze sales to become permanent in NYC?
A recent article in Gothamist caught our attention. We believe, if handled properly, To-Go Booze sales becoming permanent will be a positive for the bar business. We’ll see what transpires in Albany.
Our thoughts for Memorial Day weekend 2020
In normal times, our pre-Memorial Day weekend post discusses our excitement for the weekend and the summer ahead. Unfortunately, these are not normal times. Among many other abnormalities, no bars will be open as normal for the foreseeable future. However, we find some of today’s conventional wisdom about NYC never again being the exciting place it was pre-COVID a bit over the top. Yes, for a while, NYC will not be the same “city that never sleeps”. But NYC will evolve. The city evolved after 9/11 and Hurricane Sandy. The evolution post-COVID will take longer than the aftermath of those two tragic events. But we’ll get there. We look forward to the day when we can once again safely pub crawl around NYC.
April 30 marks the 208th anniversary of Louisiana statehood
If there were no coronavirus, it would be a great day to visit 1803, located at
82 Reade Street in Manhattan’s Tribeca. We look forward to visiting 1803 after all of this Covid-19 madness is over with.
Happy Earth Day 2020!
Save water, drink beer!
