Here’s a NYC bar crawl with an Octoberfest theme for Saturday, September 19. Ulyssses is sponsoring their annual Octoberfest on Stone Street in Manhattan’s Financial District. It’s an opportunity to do some bar hopping along Stone Street and visit Ulysses and other spots, such as Vintry, The Growler and Adrienne’s. A recent New York Daily News article (http://dld.bz/dN75H) informs of the forthcoming closing of business of the bar Hogs & Heifers. It’s a bar from a bygone era, back when the Meatpacking District actually had some meat packing activity. We’re surprised that the bar wasn’t forced out of business due to rising rent prior to 2015. RIP, Hogs & Heifers, you will be missed.
Stout NYC has recently opened its third location; this one at 60 East 41st Street in Midtown Manhattan, just one block south of the main entrance to Grand Central Terminal. A review of this third location of the Stout NYC empire forthcoming in this space.
The Long Hall NYC, a new bar and restaurant, located at 58 East 34th Street in Midtown South (in the old Murray Bar space), is now open for business as of this writing. We don’t know much about the spot; we’ll have a review in this space after our initial visit.
The Malt House (of Greenwich Village fame) is opening its second location to the public on Tuesday, May 19. This one is in Manhattan’s Financial District at 9 Maiden Lane (between Broadway and Nassau Street). After we have a chance to visit Malt House’s new location, we will post our review. Stay tuned.
Located at 159 West 26th Street in Manhattan’s Chelsea, Crompton Ale House is a new craft-beer bar / sports bar. Crompton offers 24 tap beers. The bar area takes up most of the spot (followed by a small dining area in back). Having opened during the first week of May, Crompton did a great job with design as the space feels as though it’s been around for a while. If you live/work near Crompton, you need to visit this spot. We look forward to returning here.
