Located at 479 Third Avenue in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn, Lucey’s Lounge is a chill cocktail bar. Lucey’s offers 20 house cocktails, 15 bottled beers and 10 wines by the glass. The spot has an antique/vintage feel to the space, along with a small outdoor area in back. Although it’s slightly off-the-beaten-path, Lucey’s is worth a visit (or two).

Manhattan Dive Bars
We came across a Thrillist feature recently, exhibiting their 33 best dive bars in the United States. The link to the article is here: http://dld.bz/cUQyx. Of these 33 bars, only two are located in New York City, both in Brooklyn (Sunset Park’s Irish Haven and Williamsburg’s Turkey’s Nest). Alas, none listed in Manhattan. True dive bars are nearly extinct in Manhattan nowadays.
NYC bars we've visited recently
We’ve been on a NYC bar crawling tear recently around Manhattan. We’ve had the opportunity to visit numerous bars, including such recently-opened spots as Chelsea’s One Star, LES’ Paulaner Brauhaus and Rochelle, UES’ The Supply House. All four spots are worth visiting. Upcoming reviews of these four and others forthcoming.
A NYC pub crawl option for this weekend

A visit to Three Stars Brewing in Washington, DC
A new local brewery in the northern tip of the District of Columbia (at 6400 Chillum Pl NW), Three Stars is one of several new microbreweries in the District. Our visit was within 30 minutes of closing time, just enough to taste their four free samples! Well worth a visit if you find yourself in Washington, DC. We look forward to our next visit.
A review of Suite 36 in Manhattan's Midtown South
Located at 16 West 36th Street, Suite 36 is another upscale sports bar for Midtown South. Attracting the after-work crowd, Suite 36 feels a bit like the Ainsworth chain. Food menu looked intriguing, with a unique take on gastropub and bar fare. A decent tap beer list of a dozen or so offerings is available. We look forward to a return visit.
A pub crawl for this weekend
The annual Hoboken, NJ Santa Con takes place this Saturday, December 7. More info here: http://santacon.info/Hoboken-NJ/
Today marks the 80th anniversary of the repeal of U.S. Prohibition
How will you mark today’s anniversary?
A brief review of Store Front NYC in Manhattan's Flatiron District
Located at 63 West 23rd Street, Store Front picks up were Limerick’s left off. We found Store Front to be an improvement over its previous incarnation. Store Front is part sports bar, part neighborhood bar with a 20-tap draught beer selection, along with a fairly standard bar food menu. We look forward to a return visit.
Happy Small Business Saturday!
We recommend a pub crawl today as a way to mark the occasion!
