Located at 256 Fourth Avenue on the Gowanus/Park Slope border in Brooklyn, Henri’s Backyard is the sibling location of Henri on Fifth on Fifth Avenue just one block east in Park Slope.  Henri’s Backyard has a small bar and dining area inside.  The backyard is where the larger portion of the establishment is located.  The bar in the backyard has more draught beers than inside bar (18 vs. 6).  The draught beer selection is a mix of local New York beers and other regional craft beers.  The rest of the outdoor area has tables for parties of two or four.  Add in the friendly staff and Henri’s Backyard is a must-visit for your next Fourth Avenue Brooklyn pub crawl.

Located at 317 Avenue X in Gravesend, Brooklyn, Draft Barn is a German/Central European beer drinking spot on an otherwise quiet block in this section of town.  In addition to the main bar area, Draft Barn has a German Beer hall-like room with long communal tables and then a sizeable outdoor drinking spot in back.  Draught beer pours are available in 16 or 32 ounces.  You’ll want to add Draft Barn to your next Gravesend NYC bar crawl.

Located at 1904 Surf Avenue in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn, the Coney Island Brewery is a must-visit on your next venture to Coney Island.  The brewery is located inside of MCU Park, the baseball stadium for the single-A New York Mets Affiliate Brooklyn Cyclones.  The outdoor seating area is larger than the small bar area inside, from which you can see the brewing tanks.  Up to ten Coney Island beers are available to sample, offered in pours of 4, 8 and 16 ounces.  You’ll probably want to visit here after you’ve ridden the Cyclone and Thunderbolt roller coasters.

Located at 88 Broad Street (at the corner of Stone Street) in Manhattan’s Financial District, Broadstone Bar & Kitchen is a multi-level gastropub / craft-beer bar by the same folks behind the Pig N Whistle Irish pubs.  The main bar is on the ground level, while the main dining room is on the second level.  There’s also a third floor space available for private parties.  The fare is mainly small plates, sandwiches and salads.  The beer selection features numerous regional and local craft-beers, both draught and bottled.  Broadstone even makes a point to highlight its local New York City beers (see second photo below).  Broadstone is a solid spot for you to add to your next evening of bar hopping around Stone Street.

The tap selection from a recent visit to the craft-beer bar, Cardiff Giant, is shown below.  Cardiff Giant is located at 415 Myrtle Avenue in Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill section.  While the location is slightly out-of-the-way, Cardiff Giant is well worth a visit for some great New York State craft beers.

Located at 497 Greene Avenue (at the corner of Nostrand Avenue) in Brooklyn, Captain Dan’s is a solid neighborhood bar that feels as though it’s been around for quite a while (even though it opened for business in early 2016). Captain Dan’s has seven draught beers plus a full bar. They offer specialty cocktails, frozen drinks and beer/shot combos. The food is a mix of bar and comfort fare.  In good weather, there are a few tables in the outdoor area along Greene Ave.  Captain Dan’s is an all-around solid spot.

Located at 52 Harrison Place in Brooklyn’s East Williamsburg, Lantern Hall, located in what looks like an old garage, is part café / part beer bar.  Opening for business as early as 8am on weekdays, Lantern Hall serves coffee until 4pm.  The beer selection included 12 draught beers, a mix of local and U.S. craft beers.  During our mid-afternoon visit, the space definitely had a café-that-serves-beer vibe to it, but we imagine that vibe changes to full-on beer bar in the later hours of the day. We found Lantern Hall’s staff friendly and helpful.  Lantern Hall is definitely a spot to visit on your next East Williamsburg NYC bar crawl.
