A review of Dirty Precious in Gowanus, Brooklyn

Located at 317 Third Avenue in Brooklyn’s Gowanus neighborhood, Dirty Precious is spacious and casual cocktail bar. The house cocktails run $10-12 a piece (take that, fancy Manhattan cocktail bars!). The beer selection has three draught options and about another dozen bottled/canned options. During our afternoon visit, many of the patrons were using Dirty Precious like a café of sorts, working on the laptops while eating and drinking. The space had a particularly welcoming feel to it. We look forward to returning here on our next NYC pub crawl through Gowanus.

December 5 marks the 86th anniversary of the end of Prohibition in the United States

December 5, 2019 marks the 86th anniversary of the end of U.S. Prohibition. On this date in 1933, Utah became the 36th U.S. state to ratify the 21st Amendment to the United States Constitution (achieving the required 75% of states to approve the amendment). This ratification overturned the 18th Amendment, which outlawed alcohol in the United States. So, how will you be marking the anniversary today, with a bar crawl in NYC perhaps? Leave us a comment below to let us know!

A review of Silver Light Tavern in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Located at 689 Lorimer Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Silver Light Tavern is a great neighborhood spot that opened in mid-2019 and is in the running for our favorite new Brooklyn bar opening of 2019.  Silver Light Tavern offers a nice mix of beer, wine and house cocktails, which run (only) $13/drink.  The food menu, while somewhat limited, offers a mix of bistro and gastropub fare. Despite the recent opening date, the space feels as though it’s been around for a long time.  Add in the friendly staff and this spot is a must-visit on your next Williamsburg NYC pub crawl.  Silver Light Tavern opens for business at 4pm daily, with weekend brunch starting at 11am.

A review of Hidden Pearl in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint

Located at 621 Manhattan Avenue at the back of the Wanpaku Ramen restaurant in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint, The Hidden Pearl is a Japanese-inspired cocktail bar.  The space is rather small, seating no more than 20 patrons.  So, you probably want to consider making reservations before your visit here, though walk-ins are welcome on a first-come first-served basis.  The Hidden Pearl’s menu offers craft cocktails, beer, wine, sake and Japanese small plates.  The Hidden Pearl is open Wednesday through Sunday starting at 6pm.
