While NYC pub crawls are still a ways off, here’s hoping that we begin some semblance of a return to normalcy in the weeks ahead.

Happy Presidents’ Day 2021!
Our NYC Bar of the Day: Fraunces Tavern, located at 54 Pearl Street in Manhattan’s Financial District.
Happy Valentine’s Day 2021
In pre-COVID days, we would suggest Bar Veloce, located at 175 Second Avenue in Manhattan’s East Village. However, we gather that Bar Veloce is temporarily closed. We hope Bar Veloce reopens soon.
Happy New Year 2021!
Here’s hoping for a better year ahead with a return to normalcy (and NYC pub crawling) at some point in 2021.
Our favorite Manhattan bar opening of 2020
Before we say farewell (or is it good riddance?) to 2020, we’d like to note our favorite new Manhattan bar opening of the year: Torch & Crown Brewing Company, located at 6 Vandam Street in West Soho. We look forward to returning to Torch & Crown numerous times in 2021 and beyond.
December 5 marks the 87th anniversary of the end of Prohibition in the United States
December 5, 2020 marks the 87th anniversary of the end of U.S. Prohibition. On this date in 1933, Utah became the 36th U.S. state to ratify the 21st Amendment to the United States Constitution (achieving the required 75% of states to approve the amendment). This ratification overturned the 18th Amendment, which outlawed alcohol in the United States. So, how will you be marking the anniversary today? We wish a pub crawl were in the offing; maybe this time next year.
A review of Torch & Crown in Manhattan’s Soho
Located at 6 Vandam Street in Manhattan’s West Soho, Torch & Crown Brewing Company is Manhattan’s first brewpub to open for business in quite some time. In this time of COVID-19, Torch & Crown offers plenty of outdoor seating. Once we end up in our post-COVID new normal, the indoor bar area is spacious too. Torch & Crown offers as many as ten of its house beers as well as wine made in New York State. We love the NY City/State vibe here. The food menu offers bar snacks, salads, sandwiches and some bistro fare. Beers-to-go are available for purchase in 16-oz four-pack cans. Torch & Crown opens for business at noon on Tuesday through Sunday (closed on Mondays). We can’t wait to return here.
For Election Day 2020
Our NYC Bar of the Day: Fraunces Tavern, located at 54 Pearl Street in Manhattan’s Financial District.
And please remember to vote today!
Happy Columbus Day 2020!
Our NYC Italian Wine Bar of the Day: Gottino, located at 52 Greenwich Avenue in Manhattan’s West Village.
Happy Half-way to St. Patrick’s Day!
Here’s hoping that, six months from now, life is much closer to a return to normal than what we have presently.
