Highlights from Memorial Day weekend, part 1
Smithfield: A tri-level spot located at 215 West 28th Street. A dozen TVs, 20 tap beers and some tasty food make this place worth a visit. 
- The Liberty: A new spot at 29 West 35th Street. Very spacious. A seating area in the front half of the place, followed by an oval-shaped bar and some additional tables in the back half of the space. 12 tap beers.

Pub Crawl NYC took a break from bar hopping to view a unique sunset. Manhattanhenge, when the sunset lines up exactly with the east-west streets in Manhattan. Looking west from 14th and 4th:

Pub Crawl NYC will be crisscrossing Manhattan during the long weekend. The plan is to hit a number of recently-opened spots. Check back over the next several days for some of the highlights of these bar visits.
The excitement of Memorial Day weekend
Memorial Day weekend just may be Pub Crawl NYC’s favorite weekend of the year. Sometimes it’s good to go away, other times, it’s good to stick around town and go on a NYC bar crawl or three. The weather almost always delivers and it’s the unofficial beginning of summer. It was on a Memorial Day weekend long ago that we participated in our very first pub crawl. So, whether you’re staying in town or traveling for the long weekend, have a great time, stay safe and happy pub crawling!
Southwest Porch at Bryant Park
Located in the southwest corner of Bryant Park, the Southwest Porch (Southwest as in the airline) offers a medium-sized outdoor area for imbibing. The place is commercial (the servers wear Southwest airline T-shirts and peanuts are served in the typical airline-sized pouch). If you can get passed that, the place is a decent option for afterwork drinks, especially now that the warm weather has arrived.
What is your favorite outdoor drinking space in NYC's five boroughs?
Now that the warm weather is (finally) here, I started thinking about outside drinking spots. In particular, I like Stone Street in the Financial District, Bohemian Hall in Astoria and the Chelsea Brewing Company located at the Chelsea Piers. Some new bars Pub Crawl NYC is looking forward to visiting, part 2
Toby’s Public House, located at Kenmare and Mulberry Streets in Manhattan. Pub Crawl NYC has visited their original location, located at the southern fringes of Brooklyn’s Park Slope. Part pizzeria, part bar, the Brooklyn location offered some good food and a small, but solid craft-beer selection. If the Manhattan location is anything like it, then Toby’s Public House is a spot you’ll want to visit sooner rather than later.
