Pub Crawl NYC will be crisscrossing Manhattan during the long weekend. The plan is to hit a number of recently-opened spots. Check back over the next several days for some of the highlights of these bar visits.
Memorial Day weekend just may be Pub Crawl NYC’s favorite weekend of the year. Sometimes it’s good to go away, other times, it’s good to stick around town and go on a NYC bar crawl or three. The weather almost always delivers and it’s the unofficial beginning of summer. It was on a Memorial Day weekend long ago that we participated in our very first pub crawl. So, whether you’re staying in town or traveling for the long weekend, have a great time, stay safe and happy pub crawling!
Located in the southwest corner of Bryant Park, the Southwest Porch (Southwest as in the airline) offers a medium-sized outdoor area for imbibing. The place is commercial (the servers wear Southwest airline T-shirts and peanuts are served in the typical airline-sized pouch). If you can get passed that, the place is a decent option for afterwork drinks, especially now that the warm weather has arrived.

Now that the warm weather is (finally) here, I started thinking about outside drinking spots. In particular, I like Stone Street in the Financial District, Bohemian Hall in Astoria and the Chelsea Brewing Company located at the Chelsea Piers. Toby’s Public House, located at Kenmare and Mulberry Streets in Manhattan. Pub Crawl NYC has visited their original location, located at the southern fringes of Brooklyn’s Park Slope. Part pizzeria, part bar, the Brooklyn location offered some good food and a small, but solid craft-beer selection. If the Manhattan location is anything like it, then Toby’s Public House is a spot you’ll want to visit sooner rather than later.
