December 5 marks the 88th anniversary of the end of Prohibition in the United States

December 5, 2021 marks the 88th anniversary of the end of U.S. Prohibition. On this date in 1933, Utah became the 36th U.S. state to ratify the 21st Amendment to the United States Constitution (achieving the required 75% of states to approve the amendment). This ratification overturned the 18th Amendment, which outlawed alcohol in the United States. How will you be marking the anniversary today?

New NYC Bar Alert: Tavern on Reade in Manhattan’s Tribeca

Located at 59 Reade Street in Manhattan’s Tribeca, Tavern on Reade picks up where the former Maxwell’s left off.  Tavern on Reade offers 16 draught beers and a $5 draught beer happy hour specials from 4pm until 7pm Monday through Friday.  The spot was still somewhat in soft-open phase when we visited, as the kitchen was not yet open.  Add in the friendly staff and this is definitely a spot to visit on your next afternoon or evening out bar hopping in Tribeca.

Our thoughts on Labor Day 2021

Because it marks the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day always brings a bit of sadness to us at Pub Crawl NYC.  In non-pandemic years, summer in NYC offers many opportunities of beautiful weather for NYC pub crawls and other city exploration.  September is still a good weather month in NYC and, if lucky, October can be as well.  But, those two months just aren’t quite the same as June, July and August.  Either way, Delta-variant depending, we look forward to a few more NYC bar crawls in the months ahead.  Happy Autumn!
